2014 1st Quarter LEIPO Meeting in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat

The National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 12 successfully conducted the 1st Quarter Local Economic Investment and Promotion Officer (LEIPO) Meeting in Lebak, Sultan Kudarat last February 27, 2014. 

The Meeting convened all of the LEIPOs from the five (5) cities and four (4) provinces of the region, namely: the cities of General Santos, Koronadal, Tacurong and Cotabato; and, the provinces of Sarangani, South Cotabato, Sultan Kudarat, and North Cotabato. A total of 25 participants from the Local Government Units (LGUs) attended, representing their respective provincial, city, as well as municipal offices. Representatives from the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 12, the Board of Investments (BOI)-Gensan Desk, and the DTI were present as well. 

The meeting finalized the 2014 Region 12 Investment Promotion (IP) and Knowledge Management (KM) Work Plan, as well as provided Updates on the Investment Leads Generated from the November 2013 Investment Missions that were conducted in Manila and Davao, respectively. Among the investment opportunities identified were mariculture, oyster/abalone farming, and integrated fish port and cold storage facility in Kalamansig, as well as airport rehabilitation in Lebak.

Aside from the investment opportunities, potential tourist attractions that were identified included the white sand beaches in the municipality of Kalamansig, as well as the long stretch of mangrove plantations in the municipality of Lebak.
