The Institutional Development Division (InDD) of the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Region 12 recently awarded twenty-eight 4th Year Economics students of the Mindanao State University (MSU)-General Santos City Campus with Certificates of Completion for having finished the preparation of information materials which the office needs in its database build-up initiative.

The preparation of Projects Briefs (PBs) is an ongoing project between DTI-12 and MSU-Gensan which started with a MOA Signing in 2012, serving as an On-the-Job-Training (OJT) program for the school’s Senior BSBA Business Economics students under the supervision of Dr. Marissa dela Cruz, Faculty of the university’s College of Business Administration.

Since then, a total of 65 PBs have been prepared by MSU-Gensan, which now form part of the information materials of DTI-12. For the 1st batch (AY 2012-2013), a total of 42 students participated, with a ratio of 3 students to 1 Project Brief. This produced a total of 14 PBs.

For the succeeding year (AY 2013-2014), there were a total of twenty-nine participating students, with 29 PBs produced, or a ratio of 1 student to 1 PB. Employing the same ratio, the 3rd batch (A.Y. 2014-2015) has thus far completed 22 PBs, with 28 participating senior economics students.

From 2012 to 2015, a total of 99 students have participated in the project, completing a total of sixty-five PBs, 43 of which were compiled in a book, the Region 12 Compendium of Project Briefs, which were disseminated in all the DTI regions and provinces throughout the country. (CCC/JM Miraveles)
