The Department of Trade and Industry Region 12 has successfully passed its 3rd 3-Year Cycle Reassessment for (ISO) 9001:2000 re-certification last September 25, 2014, which was conducted by Certification International Philippines (CIP), the 3rd-party certifying body tapped by DTI 12 to measure the organization’s quality management system.

(ISO) 9001:2000 measures an organization’s effectiveness in terms of quality management by evaluating a broad spectrum of practices including procedure, documentation, policy, communications, personnel, and infrastructure. (ISO) 9001:2000 is an improvement of the 1994 version, which has been adopted by more than half a million users in all sectors worldwide. Its focus is now more on process and client/customer, as opposed to documentation which was the central item in the 1994 version.

DTI 12 started aligning its quality management system to (ISO) 9001:2000 in 2006, as part of the organization’s effort to uphold DTI’s image as the “agency of choice”.

This year’s audit covered identified offices of DTI 12, which included the Regional Office, NERBAC, General Santos City Field Office, and the Provincial Offices in Sarangani and South Cotabato. The  operations that were audited included the following Major Final Outcomes (MFOs): Management Responsibility, Industry Development and Investment Promotion, MSME Development and Promotion, Consumer Welfare, and Finance, Administration, and Other Support Functions.
