Orientation on BPLS Regulatory Simplification

The National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) 12, in cooperation with the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) 12 and the Philexport Region 12 (SOCCSKSARGEN Chapter), has just concluded the conduct of the Orientation on Regulatory Simplification: a BPLS Streamlining Upscaling Strategy for LGUs last May 28, 2014 at the Sarangani Highlands Garden and Restaurant, Purok Wal, Calumpang, General Santos City. 

Participants to the said activity are the region's Business Permit and Licensing Officers (BPLOs), and Administrators from the 5 cities and 45 municipalities in the region. Specific topics include the following: Regional Competitiveness Index and Status of BPLS Implementation in Region 12, by DTI 12 ARD Dorecita T. Delima, Overview on Regulatory Simplification by Gemma Constantino, Director for Extension Services of the Sultan Kudarat State University; Methodology on Regulatory Simplification an dthe Puerto Princesa Experience, by Alfredo Hebrona of the RDC 12, and BPLS Streamlining Experience and Best Practices of Batangas City, Ditas Aguado-Rivera of LGU-Batangas.

A total of 87 participants attended the activity, representing 4 Provincial Governors' Offices (PGOs), 36 Local Government Units (LGUs), DTI and DILG.  

An Action Planning capped the activity to serve as guide for the participants in mapping out the improvement of their respective Business Permit and Licensing Systems (BPLS).
