Region 12 Promotes 11 Big-ticket Projects to the BIMP-EAGA & IMT-GT

The National Economic Research and Business Assistance Center (NERBAC) 12 spearheaded the promotion of 11 Big-ticket Projects from the SOCCSKSARGEN region (Region 12) to foreign and local investors during the 2nd BIMP-EAGA & IMT-GT Trade Fair and Business Leaders’ Conference, conducted last October 22-26, 2014 at SMX Convention Center, SM Lanang Premier, Davao City.


The region’s big-ticket projects focused on 5 main industries: Agri-business, Tourism, Public Infrastructure, IT-BPO, and Ecozones. These included the following projects: Corn Processing Plant of LGU Banga and PGO South Cotabato; Integrated Transport Terminal and Lifestyle Complex, and Operation of a Triple “A” Halal Slaughterhouse of LGU Cotabato City; Gensan Ecozone of Gensan Economic Zone; Gensan Mabuhay IT Park of Mabuhay Technopark Corporation; Integrated Food Terminal with Abattoirs, and Redevelopment of General Santos City Public Market of LGU General Santos City; Deep-sea Fishing using Fish Shelter “Payao”, and Integrated Fishport and Construction of Modern Cold Storage Facility of LGU Kalamansig; Eco-tourism Corridor of Kidapawan City; Golf Course Site Development of LGU Koronadal City; and, Overland Transport Terminal and Construction of Satellite Market of LGU Tacurong City.


The Local Economic Investment Promotion Officers (LEIPOs) of the LGU proponents, as well as the private sector proponents presented their projects during a 1-hour Network Reception Session specifically allotted for Region 12’s projects. After the session, a Business Matching Activity was held where interested investors met the proponents face to face to discuss the projects presented. A number of investment queries were discussed, and several agreements were made for future meetings.


The 2nd Brunei-Indonesia-Malaysia-Philippines East ASEAN Growth Area (BIMP-EAGA)  and Indonesia-Malaysia-Thailand Growth Triangle (IMT-GT) Trade Fair and Business Leaders’ Conference was organized by the Mindanao Development Authority (MinDA) in coordination with some of the country’s national and local government agencies such as the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) and the Board of Investments (BOI), as well as several private sector organizations.
